This is the oldest known coat of arms of the Joss family. It belongs to the landlord Benedicht Joss. Its origin can be traced back to the year 1525. This coat of arms can be found on the escutcheon of the Bernese landlords, located in the Castle of Bueren an der Aare.

For the creation of the heraldic devices of 1973, the ancient family emblem of Castle Bueren a.A and the heraldic colours of the parish of birth were used. The descendants of the families which in 1881 tock up permanent residence in Oberburg in the canton of Bern, retain their heraldic devices unchanged.
